Production area

Prosecco is produced in Veneto provinces, except for Rovigo and Verona (about 80% of total production), and in all the provinces of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia (about 20% of total production). Within this area there are also two DOCG (which is in Italy the top wine denomination) for the production of the Conegliano-Valdobbiadene Prosecco and Colli Asolani-Prosecco . Prosecco has become famous since the 90s of the twentieth century, an increase in the second half of 2000. In 2013, worldwide sales have surpassed, for the first time, the champagne sales.
